Fuji mountain, 04. May 2006

About 120km from Setagaya-ku via Tomei highway and crowded small roads, back about 140km via Chuo highway. Total 274km.
Tomei and the small roads were slow this time. Ballabio consumed less fuel this time, 5.3 l/100km, i.e. it run 19 km/l.

When leaving the folks stayed home saying Sayonara, have a safe trip, "turvallista matkaa".

One the way a farmer's son had to stop and take a close look at rice cultivating, "riisin istutus".

Soon after a 1600 JPY Toll Gate (on map) there was good photo spot.

Another Parking point with beautiful view (map). Yet few kilometers to ride the nice road.

This is almost as far as you can drive.
Good place to take photos. 1500m to the end of the road. Google Satellite picture

Very peaceful indeed.

Though the image of a peace is partly an illusion.
Thousands of people around are enjoying the same peace.
Everybody has the same purpose so it is not a noisy place.
But the traffic you cannot avoid.

One more kilometer to go to the end of the road. At this point even by motorbike it was impossible to go any faster than the rest of the traffic. So here I turned back.
People left their cars aside the road and walked one or two last km as it was fastest way to get to the restaurant area.
This point is about 2200 m from sea level. Mountain Fuji is 3776 m high from sea level.
Still perhaps 8 km to walk if you want to go all the way. I guess, you don't have to walk alone.
